Among the many constituents who stopped by duringFish Creek's Finest!
Heather's annual MLA open house in December were
Amanda, Samantha and Dennis Brown. Dennis had his
head shaved on December 7th as part of "Shave My Lid
for a Kid", an effort to raise $1000 for the Kids Cancer
Care Foundation of Alberta to send a kid with cancer to
a special summer camp for one week.
Heather's constituents making a difference!
Scott McLeod, a constituent in Calgary-Fish Creek and a current student attending medical school, recently visited the Legislative Assembly and got to see his MLA in action in Question Period. Calgary-Fish Creek is full of wonderful people like Scott, who work tirelessly to help make their community a better place.
Heather and her buddy Parker!
In the March 2008 General Election in Alberta, Heather was
extremely gratified to see the countless volunteers who came
out to fight for her, and help her win re-election the same way
she's been fighting for them in Edmonton. One such volunteer
was little Parker, who helped Heather keep track of the results
on Election Night.
Heather receiving her aboriginal name
One of the greatest honours of Heather's professional career came when she was bestowed with the Blackfoot name "Aahsoikinnah-kaiki", which means "healing woman".

The Beautiful Fish Creek Provincial Park
Heather often refers to Calgary-Fish Creek as the most beautiful
constituency in the province, and it's easy to see why! The riding
includes and draws its name from Fish Creek Provincial Park, the
largest urban park in Canada (3 times the size of Stanley Park in
Vancouver!) and home to everything from squirrels to deer and
over a million visitors per year.

The Delicate Balance
The people of Calgary-Fish Creek are some of the most environmentally aware in the entire province. With an ecological gem like Fish Creek Park on their door-step, the constituents of Calgary-Fish Creek are not only aware of human/wildlife conflicts (with deer on the front lawn a common sight!) but also of issues like recycling, watershed protection, and biodiversity.

The Tiniest Constituent
Wildlife can be found all over the constituency, from ground
squirrels to deer to the occasional bear sighting. This little
fella may not be eligible to vote, but he's still making it pretty
clear where he "stands" when it comes to Calgary-Fish Creek!

Getting in the Stampede Spirit!

Celebrating WorldSkills!
Heather was honoured to be asked to help welcome the delegation from the United Kingdom to Prince of Wales School, in beautiful Calgary-Fish Creek, as part of their WorldSkills celebration.
